Description:
A senior level ecologist is urgently required to join this expanding environemntal consultancy, based in Derby.
Ideal candidates for the role will be able to demonstrate considerable commercial ecologist experience, with demonstrable field survey and report writing skills, and project and team management skills. You will also hold a
MSc/ PhD in a relevant discipline and professional membership of IEEM or similar is anticipated. Protected species licence (s)are extremely advantageous. Full clean driving licence is essential.
Duties Include:
- Planning and undertaking ecological field surveys
- Report writing and presentation
- Liaising and advising clients and other professionals
- Large scale project management, organising interactions of your team with teams from other disciplines and organisations
- Staff mentoring and management
- Business development, identifying new business opportunities and building client relationships to ensure continued business
- Ensuring all work is carried out within current UK legislation
As a senior ecologist you will lead and manage a team of enthusiastic and committed ecologists, undertaking various field surveys, including phase 1 and extended phase 1 surveys, protected species surveys, NVCs. You will organise and plan these surveys, and design and implement management and mitigation schemes when necessary. Providing specialist knowledge and advice you will liaise with clients and other professionals to ensure projects, sometimes multidisciplinary projects are completed successfully. You will identify new business opportunities and develop client relationships. Constantly building your own skill set and knowledge you will also mentor more junior staff and expand the services that you can offer to clients. You will provide support to the senior ecologist and mainly work on projects across the Midlands, providing support to regional teams across the UK if required.
