Description: THE POSITION1.Purpose of the Job·To effectively plan the production/material resources to satisfy customer requirements, including capacity and inventory levels.·Review and ensure inventory levels are at a level to support customer demand and working capital initiatives.·Develop supply base in line with the purchasing functions strategic goals.·Ensure standardisation in planning processes across the production cells.2.Principal Responsibilities·Liaise effectively with Purchasing, Goods Inwards and the Production Departments to ensure component shortages are received on time.·Collate and distribute any production information that may affect any customer deliveries at the daily production meeting.·To be responsible for internal/external expediting of outstanding parts and jobs for Production requirements.·Create sales orders from the review facility when needed, on a daily basis.·To be the key contact between the Sales Department & Production Department in meeting our customers’ requirements.·To attend the daily production meeting, ensuring delivery dates are given and maintained for all outstanding orders.·Continually develop new initiatives to enhance Production Planning activities.·Analyse departmental capacities on a regular basis and ensure capacity is in line with demand to ensure any departmental overloads are corrected and our customer requirements are met and our lead times reduced.·To undertake those activities as determined and directed by the Site Leader which are deemed appropriate towards achieving set objectives against the current Business Plan.·Introduce a standardised method of Production Planning across the production cells so that all cells use the same reports and methodology.·In conjunction with the Purchasing function, drive the Purchasing initiative in line with yearly performance goals in the following areas:-Supplier reduction-Supplier average weighted lead time reduction -Supplier inventory held at site-Supplier average weighted payment terms-Supplier delivery performance·Co-ordinate the business effectively to ensure inventory held at site or suppliers is re-calculated on a frequent basis to ensure inventory levels held match customer demand.3.Principal Networks & Contact LinksInternal – Purchasing DepartmentManufacturing ManagementSupervision/ManagementFinancial ControllerSite LeaderPurchasing Functional LeadershipExternal – Key Supplier Base,Purchasing Functional Leadership4.Supervisory Responsibilities5.Budgetary ResponsibilitiesInventory responsibility £6.5m per annum6.Geographic Scope & Travel RequirementsBased Redditch, UKTravel will be required, predominantly to Europe7.Key Performance MeasuresSupplier OTTRInventory TurnsSupplier Lead Time Reduction,Supplier Base ReductionCustomer OTTRTHE CANDIDATE1.Education RequiredPurchasing qualification preferred.
