Description: Music Licensing Executive Reports To: Head of Licensing Department: Music Licensing Job Purpose * To ensure that any music used for broadcast on Sky channels and all other forms of exploitation by the company, has the appropriate licenses & permissions* To advise Sky staff on appropriate music licenses* To negotiate with music copyright holders for licenses and negotiate fees and terms Key responsibilities * Attend regular meeting with Sky creative teams to advise on music licensing issues* Visit independent production companies and give Sky music guidelines presentation* Negotiation of fees and terms with record companies, music publishers, artist management and other music copyright owners * Clearance and licensing of all music that falls outside of the terms of Sky`s blanket agreements with the 4 main UK music copyright societies* To ensure that detailed and accurate records of all licensing requests and approvals are kept and using excel spreadsheets to track and monitor license periods and costs* Assist with development and on going changes for Licensing Intranet page. Key Attributes* Work well under pressure * Excellent attention to details * Exposure to music licensing with a broadcaster, music publisher or record label * Detailed knowledge of music copyright law* Established contacts within the music industry * Strong negotiating skills * In-depth knowledge of MCPS or similar music licensing systemsSo what`s next?
