Description: Human Resources Officer (6 months maternity cover) - LondonBasic Salary£25,000 - £35,000 with great benefitsStart DateThe beginning of August 2008RoleThe successful candidate will provide a support service for all staff ensuring they comply with employment legislation and provide management with strategic adviceAdminister the organization’s Human Resources Department and design a strategy for Human Resources Development Work with departmental directors and line managers with the aim of increasing the level of performance from all staff and coordinating relevant trainingRecruitment and selection - operate procedures for perm and temp vacancies Job evaluation and consultation with line managersAdvise directors and senior managers on job descriptions and person specificationsLiaise with Marketing & Communications re advertising in papers etcRecruitment administration, liaise with applicants and recruitment agenciesConstruct interview forms and assessment centres and obtain references once offers are madeCreate induction programmes for new starters and co-ordinate work experience programmesAdminister contact details, medical questionnaire, induction formsConduct probationary period meetingsAdvise managers on employee relations and contractual issuesIssue all personnel documents (offer letters, particulars of employment, maternity letters, disciplinary letters and exit letters)Ensure absence is logged, sickness, unpaid leave etc and that monthly headcount statistics are produced Oversee issuing of references on previous employeesLiaise between pension broker and staff and healthcare insurance provider and staffCreate and maintain organogramsPrepare work permit and leave to remain applications and keep updated on immigration lawAssist in effective employee relations Advice line managers, mediating and resolving employee issues, in some cases liaise with employment lawyerCo-ordinate staff celebrations and activitiesDisciplinary and grievance procedures: sit in on disciplinary enquiries and appeals and take notesProvide all instructions to the Payroll ManagerWork closely with departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting directors and senior managers to understand and implement policies and proceduresUpdate and maintain the Staff HandbookIn co-ordination with the Senior Executive team implement an annual appraisal scheme and ensure that appraisals are carried out in September 2008Co-ordinate internal training programmes for staff at the request of departmental directors, book external training programmes and other non-employee ArrangementsCo-ordinate work experience programmesReview and maintain consultancy agreementsEnsure risk assessments are carried out for every employee complying with DSE & H&S LegislationResearch and implement benefits for staffCarrying out any tasks requested regarding the relocation of the London officesCompile skills sets for each of the functions of the organisationConduct benchmarking research, in order to continually improve and develop the policies and benefits at the companyYou will be expected to provide lunch break cover once a weekExperienceMust have current strong experience within HRYou will need to have interviewing, Employee relations, Reward, Absence management, Legal framework, Performance management and Time Management skillsStrong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel,Desirable - CIPD qualified (or equivalent) to graduate level and Training and Development skillsWorks proactively towards challenging personal and organisational goalsMeets deadlines and adapts to changes in priorityCommunicates oral and written ideas and information with clarity, assertiveness, consideration and sensitivityCreates and enhances effective and appropriate internal and external relationships Ability to influenceBowmaker Sharpe acts as both an employment agency and an employment business.
