Tom Devaney in the Galway office of CareerWise Recruitment requires a Formulation Scientist for our client based in the Midlands. Reporting to the R & D Manager the successful candidate will play an active role in formulation and process development / enhancement activities and the manufacture of product for Phase I, II and III clinical trials. THE ROLE:* Conduct pre-formulation characterisation, formulation development and process development activities using standard procedures and novel approaches.* Be capable of performing tasks associated with a wide range of formulation types and process operations (e.g. granulation, drying, tabletting, IR bead manufacture, SR bead manufacture, application, coating, encapsulation, solution and suspension products).* Preparation of products for use in clinical studies from Phase I to Phase III trials.* When required participate in the scale-up, trouble-shooting and technology transfer of pharmaceutical products.* Interpretation of analytical, pharmacokinetic and engineering results.* Prepare reports, SOPs and batch documentation with minimal supervision.* Comply with all aspects of cGMP, Safety and Environmental legislation and Company policy, which impacts on doing the job.* Participate actively in relevant R&D project team meetings.* Demonstrate ongoing familiarity with literature and incorporate observations/information into formulation / engineering programmes. Utilise data from literature surveys on a regular basis to support experimental / developmental work.* Work as a team member and to actively participate in achieving the aims and goals of the R&D group and project teams.* Communicate issues, data and resolution ideas within R&D to permit objectives to be met and to confirm solutions to problems with own manager and highlight critical issues promptly.REQUIREMENTS* A primary degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Industrial Chemistry or other relevant discipline is required.
