Submissions OfficerPAY BAND 6 (£12,530 – 20,950) (benefits include pension, healthcare, crèche (Teddington only) and generous holiday)Job title: Submissions Officer Reports to: Team Leader Department/location: Scene of Crime DNA – Teddington Job Purpose: The job holder will check continuity of exhibits and book cases and items onto the LIMS system. The job holder is also responsible for sending results to customers and carrying out general administrative duties within the team.Key result areas:A Submissions Officer is expected to:Assist in the day-to-day organisation of the reception and returning of DNA samples. This will involve close liaison with clients. Receive and sign for receipt of samplesAccurate logging of sample details into the case management system (LIMS/CMS)Be a contact point for sample progress information- ability to interrogate LIMS/ CMS for sample detailsContact clients with sample queries when requiredDevelop client loyalty through pro-active client careSend results to customersCandidate specification:Excellent communication skillsAccuracy and reliability when undertaking administrative functionsProactive and enthusiastic attitude and demonstrable commitmentGood interpersonal and team playing skills with the ability to interact with customers and colleagues at all levelsHigh levels of concentrationGood organisational skillsAbility to manage a flexible workloadExcellent attention to detailReception and signatory for receipt of samplesLogging Cases onto LIMSInterrogation of LIMS/ CMS for sample detailsDealing with CustomerSending reports to customer.General Admin - copying, posting etcReturns / destruction systemCasefile managementHealth & SafetyMaintenance of housekeeping recordsKey Skills Required: Experience in a submissions office, busy reception or office environment which involved direct customer contact both face to face and over the telephone desiredGCSE Maths and English or equivalentIT literateLGC is an equal opportunities employer and is particularly eager to encourage staff progression and development, including lateral moves.
