Plant Laboratory Technician-A large progressive plastics recycling company based on Wilton International has a vacancy for a Plant Laboratory Technician to work 12 hour shifts on a ‘four day on, four day off’ patternRequirements of the role.The successful applicant will be required to:-Ensure the smooth running of the plant process, in conjunction with the shift Plant Operator.-Perform QC testing of products using such methods as Headspace GC, FTIR, Colorimetry, density measurement, and Melt Flow Index.-Use the results of the analyses to assign batches to the required grades.-Collect, organise and record QC data for C of A’s and for archiving.-Organize incoming raw material and determine it’s suitability as a feedstock.-Provide basic maintenance of plant machinery and lab equipment-Keep plant and lab areas as clean as possible to avoid contamination of the products.Experience/Qualifications.-HND (or equivalent) in a scientific subject would be preferred.-Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access)-Some experience of QC testing/laboratory work would be an advantage, however, full training will be provided.-Experience of working with ‘food contact’ material would be an advantage.-More important than experience and qualifications is the attitude of the applicants.They should demonstrate an ability to quickly learn new techniques, whilst also offering ideas on method development.Once trained on the plant and lab processes, they should be comfortable working unsupervised, and be able to tackle problems for themselves.An enthusiasm for the role, and a ‘hands on’ approach are important, as is the ability to understand the plant process which is concerned with the production of ‘food’ grade material, therefore an appreciation of the cleanliness requirements to avoid contamination would be beneficial.£8.50 - £9.50 per hour depending on experience.To apply please forward a CV and covering letter explaining why you wish to be considered to:Human Resources DepartmentThe WES buildingPlastics RoadWilton InternationalTS10 4RG
